Vision Challenge: Perception of Mess

Updated: Mar 2, 2022

Instead of doing a video of talk about it Thursday, I decided to write it out. It has been a few years since my last post and I have to admit that it feels like coming home. For the past few weeks I started a vision challenge to realign the way I see myself, and if you would like to join you are welcome. Check my Facebook or Instagram (@ttwn61) for the full series so far. Like I have said before, I have struggled with perfection and self image most of my life. It was ingrained and fed to me like water. And like you we all have to unlearn things that we experienced and believed true.

Last night I had a thoughtful moment that is changing how I understand "messiness" with myself. I was reflecting over my day and started going in on what I didn't do right. In the middle of condemning myself I said God is something wrong with me? If I am healed from depression and anxiety, why am I still struggling like this. I hate being this way! And ever so sweetly my friend got me all the way together lol. The Holy Spirit said "What is wrong with being messy? You don't think that I can help you through it? You equate being a mess as your identity, you think that's who you are instead of seeing the mess as a process, something you're going through. Do you not think that I am in the mess, cleaning it up piece by piece. Don't you believe that I won't leave you or forsake you? Even the stains that are on your cloth as you clean your table serve a greater purpose. Trust me through the messiness. YOU are not the mess.... You are going through the filtering process. My hand is still on you, I got you".

It caught me by surprise how much peace I felt but it reaffirmed that even with how I feel and as I am changing, I am right where I need to be. What mess in your life are you trying to speed through and quickly clean? If you're frustrated with the mess in or around you, don't forget that even this is apart of the Father's Plan to get you to where you need to be. You may not see how you're gonna go from A TO B, but that's not your place. The frustration you feel means growth is taking place. Allow God to lead you in the clean up stage, he knows what needs to go and what needs to stay. Let him grow you and accept the peace that he gives you while you wait for him.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6
